McWilliams is right (as Hunter Thompson saw about the Hell’s Angels): Trump voters are not amenable to reason, logic, or evidence (or even their economic self-interest). But every poll I’ve seen says that Trump voters are in the minority.

1/ McWilliams is right about everything — including, most ominously, the claim that this is a “singularly dangerous time” and that “trouble lies ahead.”

EXCEPT: she forgets that the raging Trump base is the MINORITY, and we in #TheResistance are the MAJORITY.

2/ Every poll I have ever seen (as well as recent special elections) tells us that those in the New America who who do not feel left behind greatly outnumber those who feel they ARE being left behind.

3/ McWilliams argues (as Hunter Thompson saw about the Hell’s Angels) that Trump voters are not amenable to reason, logic, or evidence (or even their economic self-interest), and that Trump voters feel the only way they can strike back is through the vote.

4/ That being the case, the Resistance can only defeat Trump and his minions through the ballot box. A corollary: There can be no place in #theResistance now for compromise or fecklessness.
