Cheney’s all-out assault on the Big Lie was the crucial point, b/c if a candidate can claim election fraud in the absence of any evidence (and even in the face of compelling evidence that the claim is false!), then there might never again be a peaceful transfer of power. 1/5

Note that “Establish corrupt intent” is under-defined here.

It can mean: establish beyond a reasonable doubt that Trump did not actually believe that the election was stolen.

Since Trump is a malignant narcissistic madman and scumbag, this might be hard to prove in court. 2/5

But DoJ is not going to have to prove that. All Garland needs to show is that Trump had the corrupt intent of overturning (his own term) the election, after it had been determined that Biden had won the election by an established process that had been upheld by the courts. 3/5

And Trump *did* know and believe he was doing that: it was not a matter of opinion even in Trump’s twisted mind that Biden’s election had been legally determined and legally upheld. Therefore, what Trump sought to do was illegal. This is perfectly simple and straightforward. 4/5

And Merrick Garland can’t let him get away with it, because?……

If you don’t see why yet, go back to tweet 1 above. 5/5
